Faure
Requiem, op. 48 |
Originally composed in 1888 the Requiem was extensively revised in 1900
at the request of Faure's publishers in an attempt to broaden its appeal
- but, surprisingly, it was not until the 1950s that Faure's Requiem
became a corner-stone of the repertoire. It's simple, serene
style distinguishes it as the most uplifting of requiems.

The combination of the City of London Sinfonia and the Cambridge Singers
under their founder John Rutter deliver a wonderfully restful
performance of this most serene of requiems.
