Requiem, op. 48

Originally composed in 1888 the Requiem was extensively revised in 1900 at the request of Faure's publishers in an attempt to broaden its appeal - but, surprisingly, it was not until the 1950s that Faure's Requiem became a corner-stone of the repertoire.  It's simple, serene  style distinguishes it as the most uplifting of requiems.
