Rodrigo
Concierto de Aranjuez

Rodrigo composed his Concerto de Aranjuez in 1940 on his return to Spain after the Civil War and its Barcelona debut founded his international reputation.  A musical reverie on the gardens of the Baroque summer palace of Aranjuez that only a blind composer like Rodrigo could have produced, this immediately became the most recognisably Spanish work of the twentieth century.

The preparations for this recording of Rodrigo's most popular work were turned in to a television documentary and the resulting collaboration between composer, conductor and soloist yielded a sensational interpretation.
