Allegri
Miserere mei

Originally developed as the second movement of Barber's String Quartet, inspired by a passage from Vergil's Georgics about a widening river's growth.  Often played as a piece for mourning, it's simple arc of growth bulges with emotion.

Unusually, the high treble part in the Tallis Scholars' Miserere is taken by Alison Stamp, rather than a young boy. It works like a dream and makes for a magical performance.
